Trauma/PTSD

Trauma is the distressing or emotional response to a previously damaging event that lacked proper support systems. PTSD is the conditions that develops after said traumatic event that is marked by distinct post traumatic symptoms.

    • Avoidance effort to prevent distressing memories

    • Avoidance effort to prevent external reminders

  • Intrusive

    • Recurrent, involuntary & intrusive memories

    • Recurrent distressing dreams

    • Dissociative reactions

  • Alterations in Thinking & Mood

    • Memory distortion is traumatic event

    • Persistent negative belief about oneself

    • Persistent negative emotional state

  • Alterations in Arousal & Reactivity

    • Irritable behavior

    • Reckless/Self destructive behavior

    • Hypervigilance

    • Exaggerated startle response
